Biography
Jackson Huenefeldt is a saxophonist, arranger, and lesson instructor residing in Columbia, MO. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music from the University of Missouri, where he studied with Leo Saguiguit. Before this, he studied with Zachary Nenaber.
Jackson was principal saxophonist for the MU Wind Ensemble and played lead tenor for the MU Concert Jazz Band. He was a founding member of the quartet Sax Evasion. He has performed in numerous chamber ensembles, including at recitals, weddings, parties, and twelve Mizzou commencement ceremonies. He is a proponent of new and contemporary music and strives to support the commissioning of new works for saxophone.
Jackson won first place for both solos and chamber ensembles at the 2022 Missouri Music Teachers Association (MMTA) competition. He also received recognition for performances at MMTA in 2023 and at the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) in 2024. He is a member of the international music honor society Pi Kappa Lambda.
During his undergraduate studies, Jackson re-established the MU Saxophone Society. While serving as its president, he brought the organization to the 2024 Biennial and 2025 Region IV conferences for the North American Saxophone Alliance (NASA). He proposed and performed a set of contemporary music for three saxophones with the Mizzou Saxophone Trio at the 2024 conference. In 2025, he proposed and performed Andy Scott’s Westland and was a concerto soloist with the MU Saxophone Ensemble.
Jackson also holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Chemical Engineering. He is currently employed as a chemical/environmental engineer with Barr Engineering Co. in Jefferson City, MO.
